Providence Service Corporation of Maine (“Providence of Maine”) is an organization specializing in nonresidential community-based services. Through our Home Based Outpatient Services and Intensive In-Home Services, Providence of Maine seeks to collaborate with and support community agencies in their efforts to strengthen families, reduce out-of-home placements, and provide youth opportunities to develop skills to become productive, contributing member of their communities. Providence of Maine has tailored all services offered by locality to address the needs of individuals, families and communities. Providence of Maine is licensed by the State of Maine, Division of Licensing through the Department of Health and Human Services.
An exceptional Maine program is the Providence Merrymeeting Center for Child Development (“MCCD”). MCCD provides home-, community-, and center-based services meeting the academic, treatment and care needs of children with autism, pervasive developmental disorder and other developmental disabilities. The goals of services are to increase desirable behaviors, reduce interfering behaviors, and maximize the self sufficiency and potential of each child and family.
Providence Merrymeeting Center provides services to children between the ages of birth and 14, or up to eighth grade, with plans to increase our certification to help children to grade 12 or age 21. Services are delivered using the methods of applied behavior analysis (ABA)—a technology that has been peer reviewed and determined to be effective for individuals with autism in over 500 studies over the last 30 years. ABA methods are data-driven, empirically based best practices, and include functional assessment, functional communication training, incidental teaching, embedded learning, discrete trial teaching and other techniques.
Community Care is accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA) and receives excellent survey results from various licensing bodies for each of their programs. Community Care provides a comprehensive continuum of services tailored to meet the needs of youth and their families as well as adults living in the community. Programs include outpatient therapy, medication management, Community Family Support Services, which provides in-home clinical supports to community children and their families; Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) which provides intensive short-term wrap around in-home support to children and their families in crisis; and Treatment Foster Care.
Community Care also provides outpatient and residential treatment, crisis stabilization and family reunification work for high needs adolescents and families. Through “Maine Caring Families Support” Community Care provides a program which provides case management and foster parent support to children in a public-private partnership therapeutic foster care program.
Adult services include an Adult Community Integration Program, providing case management support to adults living with mental illness in the community, and an Adult Skill Building Program which provides coaching and support for adults with mental illness in the areas of daily and community living.
Since its inception in 1995, Community Care has been striving to keep pace with the changing demands of the statewide child welfare and human services systems by seeking new streams of funding and offering increasingly diverse services. In the past eleven years, over three thousand clients have been served. Community Care looks forward to ongoing partnership with the state of Maine in efforts to build upon existing services by providing high quality family focused supports, treatment, and services in communities across the State.
LogistiCare has been managing non-emergency medical (NEMT) and other social service transportation programs for government agencies and managed care organization (MCOs) since 1989. LogistiCare currently is the nation’s largest and most experienced manager of Medicaid NEMT programs for state governments and MCOs, providing over 17 million NEMT trips annually in 36 states and the District of Columbia. LogsitiCare has also managed other types of human service transportation programs such as ADA paratransit, school transportation, commercial ambulance, and elderly dial-a-ride services.
LogistiCare pioneered what is known as the “brokerage” model for delivering transportation services. Under the brokerage model, the funding entity outsources the management of their transportation benefit to a professional transportation management company, usually under a full-risk capitated financial arrangement. LogistiCare’s consistent record of cost saving and service quality has been instrumental in the increasing adoption of the NEMT broker model by state Medicaid agencies and MCOs throughout the country.
